About Us

Generosity and Vision

 Our Mission

In the spirit of community in the San Geronimo Valley, we have come together to co-create a place of natural abundance — a community garden in every sense. In that place we grow together, growing fruits and vegetables, learning from each other, sharing, developing friendships, working collaboratively, being with nature and nurturing our bodies and spirits.

Our History

It began with the question, "Is there a communal place to grow food in the Valley?" The owners of the San Geronimo Golf Course generously donated land for us to use. Several Valley residents got together and created a community garden located within the bounds of the old San Geronimo Valley Golf Course. The garden plan began with 30 family plots (16 feet square), irrigation, communal fruit trees, grape vines, composting area, and shed. We enclosed the entire garden with a fence and installed irrigation lines to each plot.

How We Operate

We pay the County for our water use and annual liability insurance. Membership includes buying in for establishing the garden, then water use. We do all of the installation work ourselves, so volunteering to help is part of being a member of the garden. We plan to have educational activities about gardening and plants shared by our members.

Non Profit Status

We are associated with MarinLink, as a non-profit organization so we can receive tax deductible donations. We have received grants and donations to support the growth of our garden in its early phases.

We also donate some of our food to the Food Bank at the San Geronimo Valley Cultural Center.

The cost to join is $180 – a one-time cost. The members of the garden are residents of our San Geronimo Valley community as a priority. A membership agreement, “hold harmless waiver”, and member questionnaire can be viewed on our website.
